Our History

HP Industries was formed out of the consolidation of three strong packaging groups, Hollywood Plastics, Amcor PET and Greif Australia.

Hollywood Plastics, now the Plastics Division of HP Industries, is a proud Australian company, which has been satisfying its customers for rigid plastic packaging, for food and beverages, cosmetics and personal care, household products and industrial products for over 29 years.

Our reputation for quality products and reliable service is exemplified by the loyalty shown by our customers over this time. Reckitt Benckiser (with brands like Dettol, Harpic and Finish), one of our earliest customers, is still with us today.

HP Plastics operates from two manufacturing facilities at Minto in NSW and Dandenong in Victoria.

With new shareholders from Australian manufacturing backgrounds joining Hollywood Plastics in July 2005, Hollywood set about growing its business while, all the time, staying focused on quality and reliability.

In 2006, we acquired Amcor’s PET business, with manufacturing facilities at Sefton in NSW, West Footscray in Victoria and Albany (near Auckland) in New Zealand. PET is the polymer resin used for the clear and tinted packaging for food (for example, peanut butter and salad dressings) and beverages (for example juices, milk, water and wine). This part of the business is now known as HP PET.

In late 2007 we acquired Greif’s Australian steel and plastics packaging business.  This part of the business, which we have renamed HP Steel, makes and markets medium and large steel drums and plastic cubes for the industrial and food (for example edible oils) markets.  HP Steel has manufacturing facilities at Seven Hills in NSW, Eagle Farm in Queensland and Altona North in Victoria.

While our recent growth has largely been through acquisitions, we continue to attract new customers across all segments of our business who seek value, quality and reliability.

We believe the HP Industries brand of our consolidated group reflects our growth and diversity throughout Australia and New Zealand while continuing to recognise our traditional high value, quality and reliability that is synonymous with the name Hollywood Plastics.
